Best Yoga Studios in Edinburgh

What are the best yoga studios in Edinburgh? Are you wondering where to practice yoga in Edinburgh - our local yoga scene in Edinburgh is buzzing and with so many talented yoga teachers and new studios opening up you might be wondering where the best places are to practice. Here are a few gems including the best hot yoga studios in Edinburgh.

At every yoga studio you will find classes for beginners and more experienced students and usually a range of styles (for more on choosing the right style of yoga for you see our blog post). A few of the studio's were kind enough to tell us in their own words what makes their studio really special, and you can also find the styles of yoga that are taught.

Meadowlark Yoga

From Elise Hill, Operations Manager

Meadowlark Yoga is a not-for-profit yoga studio and community space in the heart of Edinburgh.  Established in 2013 by Karen Kirkness, the studio was created as a space to share the traditional teachings of yoga and explore its application in the modern world.

We offer all-level classes both in-studio and online, as well as a series of workshops, courses and trainings.  Our aim is to provide yoga for all, whatever stage of life our students are in.  Whether a student is totally new to yoga, or a long-term teacher seeking continuous development for their teaching portfolio, Meadowlark offers a hub for practice and learning.

Our teachers are lifelong students of yoga and you'll often find them practising alongside newer students of yoga, really bringing the community together.  We welcome new and long-term students alike and our friendly team are more than happy to discuss particular needs.

Join us 7 days a week, in-studio or online.  We look forward to seeing you on the mat!

The Edinburgh Yoga Room

The Edinburgh Yoga Room established 15 years ago, is located just off the buzzing Broughton Street in the heart of the East End, is a beautiful boutique studio.

The Yoga Room is a warm, intimate space, with an abundance of natural light, wood floors and a strong sense of place. With roots in the Ashtanga yoga movement, the studio now offers a variety of styles of yoga, catering for all levels, from absolute beginner to advanced. Class sizes are small to ensure plenty of individual attention as you develop your practice. We also offer private yoga sessions, with many recent sessions focused on gentle and restorative yoga for post-Covid chronic fatigue.

What makes us different? Our experienced teachers are passionate about helping students develop the best practice for them, seamlessly adjusting and incorporating various styles of yoga, meditation and pranayama (breath-work), whether in a one-to-one session or class setting.

Come as you are. Come and practice at the Yoga Room.

Rings of Power Yoga Mat

Hot Yoga Edinburgh

From Allison Harrison, Student, Teacher & Director

When I took on the space at Ladyfield (the pedestrian lane which runs along the side of the EICC from Morrison St to Conference Square), I designed our yoga studio with our clients in mind. I wanted our studio to be a calm, peaceful and beautiful space with all the latest technology including energy efficient radiant infrared heating panels and a fresh air ventilation system which monitors the quality of the air in the studio and ensures that the air stays clean and fresh even in busy classes. Our changing rooms have all the facilities you would hope for, including showers, hairdryers and lockers.

I believe in supporting our local community, and we used local businesses for every element of the fit out, design and upkeep of our studio. Even now, we still support local small businesses as much as we can. We even buy honey for our tea from the beekeeper who keeps urban beehives on the roof of our building!

We are a founding member of TransFriendly, an organisation which supports trans people, wherever they are on their journey. We are members of the Scottish Business Pledge, which is a commitment to fair treatment, equality and inclusion. Our team of fantastic teachers are among the best in the country, and I’m proud that our teachers stay with us for the long-term, we don’t have a high turnover of teachers. Each of our teachers brings their own unique experience and style to their classes, and our clients love the variety, but our teachers all have something in common - their friendly, caring approach and their kindness. We believe that Yoga is for Every Body, and we want everyone who walks through our doors to be made welcome and to enjoy their practice, whether they have never tried yoga before or if they are a seasoned yogi.
